Mid March Report

Hey everyone. So I'm a little better this time around about getting into here and updating everyone, far and near. This one is going to be pretty quick though. For my birthday, it started out with me finishing my first 5K ever! I was third in my age group with a time of 34:56. That's awesome for me because I was aiming for 36! We went out for a hearty breakfast after that then I slept all day while Ellie was taking her nap. I got some really great gifts. In the pictures, the flowers are from my mother and the chocolates are from a couple of my friends. In the evening, we dropped Ellie off at the babysitter's and headed out to Dave and Busters with 3 other couples. It was nice not having any little ones around.

Ellie's vocabulary is astounding to Tom and me. She has learned how to say "hawk," which is basically every bird she sees except pigeons, which are still "birds." She's running around all over the place and absolutely loves going to the gym with me because she gets to expend a lot of that energy there. She's also learning how to throw some major temper tantrums. But as soon as she hits the floor like you always see toddlers doing, she doesn't seem to know what's the next step. So she whines for about 2 secs and gets back up, and the tantrum is over. She's a pushy little girl now. Tom and she have gotten considerably closer in the past couple of weeks. It's great to see them play together! He's doing such an amazing job with her. He seems to be finding his niche with her, thank god!

Okay. That's it for me this time around. Enjoy the pictures!

Koda is soooo spoiled.
And that would be Little Debbie's Strawberry Shortcake all over her face!
Mom's birthday flowers to me!
Yummy chocolates from Edible Arrangements.
Coming across at the finish line of my first 5K!

Starting March....

Hey everyone! The last couple of weeks have flown by! Birthdays are coming up, spring is knocking at our door, and life as a family is finally finding it's nitch. There are actually THREE birthdays coming up in the next couple of weeks. My nephew, Austin, is turning three, my sister-in-law is also have a birthday two days after that, and yay, my birthday is the 7th! I'm not normally the one that wants to have a big shindig for my birthday, but I think 25 is worth something this year. Unfortunately I don't really know anyone here to invite to a "party." So a few of us are going to go to Dave and Buster's for a few hours. We'll eat dinner and play games and it'll be really nice! Lydia and I orginally said that we weren't taking the babies, but I want Ellie there... So babies it is! =) That may still change between now and saturday.

I had a revelation the other day. I'm on the right track to getting my physical being healthy. I'm watching what I eat, I'm getting at least 30 mins of moderate activity a day, i.e. running or on the elliptical or whatever, but something. I'm really excited about the physical aspects of my life finally getting under control. I'm planning for races, dealing with injuries as they come, and keeping my motivation high so I know I'll keep doing it. Working out at my awesome gym helps keep me going! I'm paying for it right??? =)

What I realized though is that I am a gregarious person; I need to be around people and socialize. Well, maybe not "need," but really really want... I don't really get that right now. I have two friends here now, and we don't get to get together very often because of the kiddies and scheduling. I see one friend on a daily basis, but we go to the gym together and don't talk much. I guess I feel like I don't have much of a social life anymore. Well, here's what's going to happen to fix that "problem." I'm going to start taking some classes around town. I'm scheduled for three cooking classes and two crafting classes! The cooking classes are pretty cheap in my opinion. One is a knife skills class, one is learning to cook with a more hawaiian flare, and the third is actually supposed to be a date night. The school's chefs create a menu and teach you how to cook it yourself but it's actually made to be like a date with a special chef for just the two of you! Tom and I are both looking forward to that! The crafting classes are both using my sewing machine. One is sewing basics and the other is quilting basics. I'm pretty excited about both of them as well! I'm hoping to join something like a quilter's guild or something so I can get involved into a community where I have something in common with the fellow members.

Hmm... I think that covers all the big things! I hope everyone enjoyed reading this! Enjoy the pictures!
